Hi! Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Mayra Moran and I am a student with a passion for brand strategy and marketing analytics. I am a Brand Strategist at Intersect LA where I work with clients to prepare integrated marketing campaigns for their brands. Intersect LA is a creative agency on campus focused on integrating brand strategy with design. I am also the Co-Founder of my clothing line, Most Prominent Co. As the Co-Founder of Most Prominent Co., I use streetwear as a platform to bring awareness to consumers about some of the health and safety regulations in the garment industry. I am a senior in majoring in marketing at California State University Northridge.
How did you find your way into design?
I found my way into design by working on my brand, Most Prominent Co. When I started working more on my brand I had to learn more about design and the different elements. When I began working at my current job, Intersect LA, I began working with a lot of visual artists and this opened up my mind more towards more design thinking.
What has your experience been as an emerging designer?
I still have a lot to learn about the design industry. As a marketing student working with graphic designers I have come to learn to really appreciate design and all its aspects. There is a lot of researching, drafting, and time that goes into design projects. I also see there is room for brainstorming between the marketing and design team.
What keeps you passionate and inspired about design and creativity?
As a Brand Strategist, I am always looking for new ways to market other brands. Being surrounded by many creatives the last couple of months has really inspired me to push beyond my own creative boundaries. Reading books about design thinking and attending different network events has also kept me on my toes.
